Youth Travel Assistance

SportsFunder Youth Sport Travel Assistance
support is directed to provincial sport
organizations and BC School Sports member sports
to help cover in-province travel expenses for
athletes who face higher travel costs because of
their geographical location.

There are two different types of travel
assistance:
This support is administered by
BC School
Sports to support travel to and from sports’ provincial championships.
Funding is directed to Parent’s Advisory Councils
through pre-determined funding levels.
Because this support cannot accommodate all
school travel needs, BC School Sports has an
external application process with funding based on
location, size and travel needs of provincial
championships. BC Schools Sport members apply to BC School Sports for access to School Sport Travel
Assistance.

This support is directed to Provincial Sport
Organizations in government’s Provincial Sport
Organization Core and Project Funding Program,
administered by
Sport BC
to support under 18 members’ travel to and from
in-province training and competition. Youth members
or clubs contact their Provincial Sport Organization
to apply for this funding.
Because this funding cannot accommodate all sport
travel needs, Provincial Sport Organizations will
direct funding through an internal process based on
each sport’s funding allocation, competition and
training structures, needs and priorities.
Provincial Sport Organizations develop and
communicate to their members a distribution/access
plan based on defensible, transparent and
predetermined standards. All of these follow broad
policies outlined in SportsFunder PSO Youth
Member Travel Assistance Guiding Principles
(available on the
SportsFunder Lottery Overview page.
