Athletes with a Disability BC Athlete Assistance Program
The Athletes with a Disability component of the BC
AAP provides financial support for British Columbia
athletes with a disability striving to achieve podium
performances while representing British Columbia.
The objectives of the Athletes with a Disability
component of the BC AAP are:
- to focus support to athletes in the “training to
compete” and “training to win” stages as identified
in the No Accidental Champions supplement to
Canadian Sport for Life – Long Term Athlete
Development Model (LTAD);
- to contribute to improved performances of Team
BC at the Canada Games;
- to help increase the number of British Columbia
athletes with a disability reaching federal carding
status thus expanding British Columbia
representation on national teams and at the
Paralympic Games; and
- to help increase the number of British Columbia
athletes representing Canada at the Summer and
Winter Special Olympic World Games and the Summer
and Winter Deaflympics.
Each eligible PSO (list provided in BC AAP PSO or
Athletes with a Disability Guidelines, Policies and
Procedures document) will have developed sport specific
selection criteria based on the criteria outlined in the
BC Athlete Assistance Program guidelines, policies and
procedures document. This document as well as the
Athlete Application Form can be downloaded from the
links on the right. Visit your PSOs website or contact
them to get information on the BC AAP sport specific
selection criteria.
