Funding for Major Events

The ministry provides funding to 2010 Legacies Now for the hosting of major sport events through Hosting BC™.

Hosting BC™ provides funding to organizations throughout the province to host events at the junior, senior and university levels. Since its launch in 2004, Hosting BC™ has invested over $2.7 million in 34 communities to host 197 events. This year, national and international level events received Hosting BC™ grants including three for athletes with disabilities – goalball, wheelchair rugby and wheelchair tennis.

The Hosting BC grant program has been suspended for the 2009-2010 fiscal year. Due to significant over-subscription of the program, the program is currently under review and will be revisited again next year.
