2015 Canada Winter Games

The Canada Games is a high level multi-sport competition held every two years on an alternating basis between winter and summer.

British Columbia is scheduled to host the 2015 Canada Winter Games as part of a hosting rotation agreed upon by the Nation’s Sport Ministers in 2005. The 2015 Canada Winter Games will bring together approximately 3,600 athletes, coaches and managers from the 13 provinces and territories to compete in 20 sports. These Games are considered a stepping stone to international competitions and multi-sport Games such as the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Pan Am and Commonwealth Games. As well, this event generates economic activity for host communities (the 2007 Canada Winter Games generated over 100 million in economic activity) and provides important legacies such as new and refurbished facilities and equipment as well as sport and community development opportunities (e.g. volunteers, sport programs, jobs and new job skills).
