2010 Legacies Now

2010 Legacies Now provides opportunities for people to reach for their dreams and more. The concept – developing a sport legacy in the years prior to an Olympic and Paralympic Games – is a world first. It was integral to Vancouver being chosen in 1998 as Canada’s nominee for the 2010 Winter Games.

Legacies Now embraces the spirit of 2010, with new initiatives to bring out the best in sport, music, arts, culture and volunteerism. Over $35 million in one-time funding is being invested to support these initiatives.

Legacies Now’s Sport and Recreation Now program will improve British Columbia’s performance at national and international competitions, as well as lead to healthier communities by introducing youth and communities to the joy of sport and physical activity and providing promising young athletes with the tools and services they need to develop.

The Sport and Recreation Now initiative includes Hosting BC™, Sport Tourism workshops, SportWeb and Action Schools BC!. For more information about these and other programs see http://www.2010legaciesnow.com/.
